Here is how a plastic welder works. A plastic welder or an ultrasonic welder uses ultrasonic vibration to weld plastic. This ultrasonic energy (20 or 40 kHz) is directed through a booster to the ultrasonic horn of the plastic welder where it is turned into vibration. The ultrasonic horn focuses the vibration and when it comes in contact with the plastic the vibration causes friction. The friction that is caused by the vibration then heats the plastics to be welded. When the plastics are heated sufficiently the friction is stopped and the plastics are allowed to harden.
